AIR TRAVEL INFO: (air fare not included in retreat price)

This trip requires two flights. One from your departure city to San Jose (SJO) and the second from San Jose to Tambor. You can take any international flight into San Jose, Costa Rica. (For example a non-stop flight from Los Angeles is only 5 hours and 30 minutes). From San Jose connect to a 35-minute local flight into Tambor which leaves you less than 30 minutes from the resort. Transportation will be available from the Tambor airport to the resort and back.

We recommend that you coordinate with each other to be on the same flights whenever possible, including your local flights, so we can drive you to the resort immediately without any delays.

International Flights: Most major US carriers go to Costa Rica as does Lacsa, the airline of Costa Rica. There are some non-stop flights, which we prefer when traveling. It is best to travel early in the morning when there will be less chance of being delayed. To avoid an overnight stay in San Jose, schedule your international flight to arrive before 12 noon and to depart after 12 noon to catch a local flight the same day. You will need 2-3 hours to clear customs/immigration and change airports to catch your local flight. The last local flight is at about 2 pm. Local Flights: The local flights have two regular schedules (high & low seasons) and you can generally skip an overnight stay in San Jose by taking an earlier international flight. The local flights require reservations and book quickly. The cost is about $140 plus tax for a roundtrip. You must check in 45 minutes before departure for these flights. Please check the airlines’ websites for flight schedules and luggage restrictions. We recommend Nature Air because they fly emissions free.

For those of you who would like to rent a car, there is a Budget Car Rental in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. We highly recommend that you make reservations before your trip.
